Click\u00a0Yes\u00a0to display a screen similar to the one below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-21291\" src=\"http:\/\/bigredcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/anal_cat-300x197.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigredcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/anal_cat-300x197.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bigredcloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/anal_cat.jpg 479w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the left-hand side is a list of the Books of Entry and any bank accounts that have been setup. Click on a book or bank account to see the Analysis Categories that have been setup. \u00a0Up to 30 analysis categories can be setup for book or bank account in the accounting software. Enter the Category title and the Nominal Account Code (if applicable) and press the + sign on the right-hand side to save the Category entry.<\/p>\n<p>If you have come to\u00a0Big Red Cloud\u00ae accounting software from a hand-written bookkeeping system you can probably use most of the analysis headings you are already using. \u00a0Headings such as Date, Amount, VAT\u00a0<em>etc.<\/em> should not be included here. The categories can be added to or changed to suit your requirements. \u00a0If you are initially unsure of what categories you require you can setup one and return later to add more. \u00a0Your accountant may also be able to advise you on the category headings.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>User Defined Fields.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>User Defined Fields are for additional items of information for each transaction that you wish to specify. \u00a0In the above example there are two User Defined Fields; \u2018Statement Date\u2019 and \u2018Approved\u2019. These will appear on the Bank Payments Book transaction screen and the Statement Date and who approved the payment can be entered.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Column Headings Already Available.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Each book has built-in headings already setup so these should not be repeated in the Analysis Categories. \u00a0The standard heading are data such as:<\/p>\n<table width=\"608\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Date:<\/td>\n<td>Transaction date.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>A\/C Code:<\/td>\n<td>Account Code of Customer or Supplier.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Details:<\/td>\n<td>Description or name of Customer or Supplier.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Amount:<\/td>\n<td>Total amount of transaction.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Discount:<\/td>\n<td>Amount of Discount Received or Allowed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Ledger:<\/td>\n<td>Amount posted to Customer\u2019s or Supplier\u2019s account.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Lodgement:<\/td>\n<td>Amount lodged (Cash Book Payments).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Bank A\/C:<\/td>\n<td>Bank A\/C Code.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>VAT:<\/td>\n<td>VAT Amount.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>VAT Analysis:<\/td>\n<td>Break-down of VAT net amounts and rates.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To use any Book or Bank Account at least one Analysis Category must be setup. \u00a0An Analysis Category is a&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":19,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"doc_category":[205],"doc_tag":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-21286","1":"docs","2":"type-docs","3":"status-publish","5":"doc_category-setup"},"year_month":"2026-04","word_count":409,"total_views":"0","reactions":{"happy":"0","normal":"1","sad":"0"},"author_info":{"name":"apathak","author_nicename":"apathak","author_url":"https:\/\/bigredcloud.com\/en\/author\/apathak\/"},"doc_category_info":[{"term_name":"Setup","term_url":"https:\/\/bigredcloud.com\/en\/docs-category\/setup\/"}],"doc_tag_info":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.3 (Yoast SEO v27.4) -
