For people working in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical and construction, bookkeeping can be very difficult to stay on top of. When you are already at the computer, opening up bookkeeping software is not particularly taxing.

For tradesmen bookkeeping means sitting down to do more work at the end of a long day on site, plugging numbers into a chart when all you want to do is rest.

It can be easy to let account keeping slide, particularly after a longer than usual day onsite. It gets put off until the next day, and then the day after. Each day it gets put off more and more accounts accumulate.

Plenty to Do

And being a tradesman doesn’t mean there are any fewer invoices to keep track of than any other business. Suppliers, clients, labour, materials, contractors all have bills. Without records of these it can be impossible to figure out how much you are owed and how much you owe.

The variety of jobs a tradesperson engages in may be very wide and numerous. A job on a building site may last several weeks or even months but at the same time another tradesman might find himself on a different site every day of the week.

Many different jobs means many different inventories and invoices to look after, materials and labour used for each job have to be separately accounted for. Being able to compile these numbers on the go would be very useful.

Bookkeeping on the Go

Cloud accounting provides a means to do this. With software operating from the cloud accounts can be accessed from any computer anywhere an internet connection is available.

A portable device such as a laptop can be taken to the job site and details added job by job through a network connection. This means no more sitting down at the end of the day to add up the day’s or week’s figures.

Big Red Cloud provide a quality, cloud based online accounting software. It can be accessed easily from anywhere with an internet connection and a web browser.

Straightforward Solution

One of Big Red Cloud’s primary aims is to provide an online bookkeeping software solution that is clear and easy to use. Records can be seen at a glance and adding information is simple.

The format is designed to be familiar to anyone who has used a normal pen and paper ledger system so getting used to the interface takes no time at all. This means that after each job or purchase, information can be quickly and simply entered in so you can get back to work.

Features to Make Things Easy

Big Red Cloud offers a number of advanced features that are also easy to use and make running your business more efficient. One feature that tradesmen will find particularly useful is the ability to automatically compile and send invoices.

When the information for the invoice has been entered, the invoice can be created automatically and sent to the email address of the recipient. Connecting the software to your bank account allows it to track when the invoice has been paid, saving you the hassle of checking up on it yourself.

Big Red Cloud includes a number of other features that can save tradesmen time and money such as free support, free accountant access to your account and VAT calculation.
