CEO of Big Red Cloud, leading its next chapter under Ishikawa Technologies and helping 25,000+ SMBs simplify business management.
Your business has grown beyond basic accounting software. You may have more stock, more locations, more people and more moving parts. Purchasing needs tighter control. Your team needs to know what is on hand, what is committed, what needs ordering and where your margin is coming from. You may be running projects, servicing equipment, hiring products, selling through a trade counter or managing several companies.
That is often when Sage 200 appears on the shortlist.
Sage 200 is a capable mid-market finance and business management system. Sage 200 Standard covers financials, purchasing, stock and sales order processing. Professional goes further with Project Accounting, batch and serial traceability, greater customisation and access to specialist business software.
Some capabilities buyers associate with Sage 200 Professional come through partner applications rather than the core Sage product.
Big Red Cloud and Turbo Inventory give you another Sage 200 alternative. You can keep finance in Big Red Cloud and run stock, purchasing and day-to-day operations in Turbo.
Big Red Cloud runs your finances. Turbo Inventory runs your operation.
Together, they address many of the pressures that push growing businesses towards Sage 200: purchasing, stock, warehousing, projects, workshop activity, hire and multiple locations.
Turbo already serves businesses across Ireland and the UK, and customers in both markets use Big Red Cloud alongside it.

Sage 200 Professional has a large and mature partner ecosystem. If you have specialist requirements, that can be a real strength. It can also mean that the system you eventually buy consists of Sage 200 Professional plus several additional products.
With our Turbo Inventory, many of those jobs already sit inside the same operational system.
As your business grows, purchasing becomes more than entering a supplier invoice.
You may need an RFQ before you commit, approval above a certain value or purchasing in several currencies. Your goods-in team may also need to scan stock as it arrives, record batches or expiry dates and put goods into the correct location or bin.
Turbo supports that process from purchasing through goods receipt. Your team can raise purchase orders, require approval, buy in foreign currencies, receive stock using barcode-assisted processes and capture batch or expiry details as goods arrive. Stock alerts and sales activity can also help you decide what needs replenishing.
When the supplier invoice arrives, Big Red Cloud can take over. Purchase Importer can receive documents by email, upload or mobile capture, extract the invoice information, match the supplier, apply your accounting defaults and flag potential duplicates.
Sage 200 has strong purchase-order and approval capabilities in its core products, while deeper invoice OCR and automation typically come through an add-on.
As your business becomes more complex, it helps if stock follows the work around the company.
In Turbo, the same inventory can move through your warehouse, sales orders and trade counter. It can also move onto a project, into a workshop job, onto a hire contract or into a light manufacturing process.
You may sell a machine today and service it six months later. Turbo can keep the equipment record, handle the sale, bring the machine into the workshop, allocate parts and labour, carry out inspections and maintain its service history.
If that machine belongs to your hire fleet, the same record can continue through hire, off-hire and workshop servicing. You do not have to piece together the customer, equipment and stock history across separate systems.
Sage 200 Standard and Professional both provide strong core stock control, including multiple locations and bins. Professional adds batch and serial traceability. Deeper handheld receiving, put-away, picking and stock-taking typically come through specialist warehouse applications.
Projects become much more useful when they reflect the work being done.
In Turbo, your team can move warehouse stock directly onto a project, see project materials on purchase orders, trigger RFQs for project requirements and receive purchased goods directly into project material. You can also schedule projects using a Gantt-style view and record labour against the work.
If your projects consume stock, bought-in materials, equipment and labour, you can see the job more clearly than you can with a simple nominal code or reporting tag.
Sage 200 Professional includes Project Accounting. Sage 200 Standard does not.
For deeper service scheduling, dispatch or field-service management, Sage Professional can extend through specialist applications such as TimeLinx.
If you sell equipment, the customer relationship often continues long after the invoice.
You sell the machine. Later, it comes back for a service. Your workshop uses parts from stock, your technician records labour, an inspection is completed and the service becomes part of the equipment history.
If you hire equipment too, the same product can move through hire, off-hire and servicing. You can manage hire contracts, long-term billing, weekend and bank-holiday pricing, delivery and collection charges and off-hire processing. If an item needs attention when it comes back, your team can move it directly into the workshop.
Sage 200 does not include a native hire and rental module, and dedicated service management sits outside the core product.
Your trade customers may walk up to the counter, place an account order, buy online or need delivery. They may also have their own pricing and credit terms.
Turbo brings trade-counter and EPOS sales together with customer accounts, stock, customer-specific pricing, warehouse fulfilment and related service or hire activity. It also connects ecommerce processes such as Shopify and WooCommerce into the wider stock and order process.
Your counter, warehouse and account teams can work from the same stock, pricing and customer information.
Sage 200 does not provide dedicated trade-counter or EPOS applications in the core product. Professional customers can add specialist products such as Order Plus or Modulus 365 EPOS.
Sage 200 Standard has simple BOM functionality, while Turbo supports light manufacturing, including BOMs, production activity and stock transformation.
For advanced MRP, works orders, machine and labour capacity planning, production routing or detailed shop-floor control, Sage 200 Professional now relies on third-party products such as Sicon Manufacturing Suite or Cim200.
Those products add the MRP, capacity-planning and shop-floor depth that Turbo does not aim to provide.
If manufacturing sits at the centre of your business, Sage 200 Professional with add-ons may therefore be the stronger fit. If you assemble or manufacture alongside distribution, service, projects or equipment sales, Turbo may cover what you need without adding a separate manufacturing system.
The activity in Turbo still has to land correctly in your accounts. Big Red Cloud provides the financial side of the suite for customers in both Ireland and the UK: customer and supplier accounts, banking, purchasing, multi-currency, payroll, financial reporting and management analysis.
You can use up to 60 Analysis Categories per book, so you can analyse transactions by jobs, sites, departments, locations, salespeople, product lines or other dimensions that matter to your business. If you run several legal entities, you can also produce consolidated Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Trial Balance reporting across companies.
For Irish businesses, Big Red Cloud adds deeper local accounting workflows, including cash-basis VAT, reverse charge and construction-related VAT treatments, Margin VAT, imports and Postponed Accounting, VAT3 and RTD reporting.
For UK businesses, Big Red Cloud complies with HMRC Making Tax Digital (MTD).
Big Red Cloud Payroll adds integrated Irish payroll for 2027, including multiple pay frequencies, batch payroll, timesheet imports, and departmental analysis.
Sage 200 Professional has clear advantages if you need extensive bespoke development or a wide range of specialist applications.
Its partner ecosystem can take Sage much further in areas such as advanced manufacturing, warehouse management, CRM and field service. For businesses with highly specialised requirements, that breadth can be valuable.
The trade-off is that you need to compare the full combination of Sage 200, partner applications, implementation and support with the more integrated Big Red Cloud and Turbo approach.
The suite is a strong fit if you have outgrown basic accounting or inventory software and now need better control over stock, purchasing and the work happening around them.
It is particularly relevant for businesses in wholesale, distribution and trade supply; machinery, equipment, parts, service and hire; multi-location retail and ecommerce; and project-led businesses that buy and consume stock or materials.
It can also suit businesses doing light manufacturing or assembly alongside distribution or service.
If your complexity sits mainly in stock, purchasing, projects, equipment, workshop, service, hire and multiple locations, Big Red Cloud and Turbo may already cover what is driving your search. If you need advanced manufacturing, extensive bespoke development or highly specialised ERP applications, Sage 200 Professional and its partner ecosystem may be the stronger fit.
Growing businesses often start looking at ERP because their existing software has stopped keeping up.
Before you make that move, look closely at where the complexity has appeared. Do you need better purchasing and stock control? Do your jobs consume materials and labour? Do you track batches, serial numbers or equipment? Do you sell, service or hire the same products?
Then compare the systems as you would actually buy them.
For Sage 200, that may mean Standard, Professional, or Professional plus one or more specialist applications. For us, it may mean Big Red Cloud, Turbo Inventory or the two together. The right comparison is between the systems, add-ons and day-to-day processes your business would actually rely on.
If you are looking at Sage 200 because your current software no longer keeps up with your business, talk to us.
We will map the way your business actually works across finance, stock, purchasing, sales, projects, service and hire. Then we can show you where Big Red Cloud and Turbo fit, where they do not, and whether Sage 200 really is the right next step.
