When entering transactions the Reference defaults to the next sequential number for that book. This is displayed on screen when a transaction is added.
Where there is more than one user entering data it may be preferable to assign the reference number as transactions are saved rather than as they are created to avoid missing or out-of-sequence references. Tick the books for which you require auto-generation. When this option is selected for a book the word ‘AUTO’ appears in the Reference box when adding a transaction.
